The Vice Chancellor of Capital University addresses Opening Ceremony held for CU Academic Year

Vice Chancellor’s Message:  For more than two decades Somalia has been in conflict an civil war with devastating effect and making the country a failed state. The subsequent destruction of the educational system had led the idea to establish the Capital University, by a team of Somali professionals, on 14th May, 2013.

Our institution begins its higher education journey in Somalia as one of the new generation of universities which make quality to be an absolute priority in order to become a favorite destination for students. Despite the recent establishment of Capital University, its position in the map among other educational institutions allows it to pursue an ambitious agenda to overcome the main problems existing in the university education system in the society/country.

Today, we are a university of transformation, not only in the academic sense but its practical application on the community’s life, in order to make a difference. For this, we consider ourselves to be agents for a change, and understand that in order to assume that role we need to combine the excellent academic performance as promised in our motto “Committed to Excellence” with a hard grass root community work. To these ends, we remain to be ready and equipped with the required abilities and capacities to face the current educational situation challenges, train highly human resource and hence contribute to the development of our country.

Dr. Abdulkadir Wehliye Afrah

Vice Chancellor, Capital University of Somalia
